ABOUT

Not long ago, you could ignore practices of internal cultivation (like Qi Gong) and simply get on with your life. However, as the modern world gets more frantic, more disconnected, and more crazy, practices of internal cultivation are quickly shifting from a curious hobby practiced by the few into an absolutely crucial survival tool. If you don’t want join the rising swaths of humanity who are crippled by anxiety, dysfunctional bodies and scattered minds, then you would be well served to begin a practice for yourself.

This workshop will introduce my approach to using qi gong as a tool for internal cultivation, based on more than 20 years of research and practice, 10 of which I spent studying intensively in a formal school of Daoist cultivation.

The foundation of my approach uses traditional Daoist principles and concepts to frame an exploration of our internal landscape. By exploring from a principle based orientation, rather than memorizing lists of exercises, you can start to explore how desirable qualities can be ignited, refined and then embodied in a way that allows them to start influencing your day to day lives. I will teach you how to use Qi Gong practices to begin a process of uniting opposites through centering, connecting you into the deep, hidden parts of your body and mind, and releasing them so they are freed to operate through their most natural cycles.

You will learn:
  • Fundamental principles: opening and releasing
  • Exercises to prepare the structure: feet, hips, spine, shoulders, arms
  • How to use the hands to lead the internal pressure through the body
  • The quality of mind necessary for this process to work effectively
  • How to connect with the dormant, weak and atrophied parts of yourself and re-invite them to participate in the functioning of your body-mind
  • How to orient yourself correctly so you don’t go turning in circles for years without getting anywhere

All are welcome, no experience necessary.
